How to Set Store Sync Dates in ConnectStock

Set or change each store's Beginning Date in your ConnectStock inventory file, and learn what a resync does.

The Dates tab in your inventory file settings sets the day each store starts counting in your ConnectStock inventory.

How it works

ConnectBooks pulls each store's activity into your inventory: orders, returns and other stock changes like Amazon adjustments, lost, damaged or removed units. It counts what's dated on or after the store's Beginning Date. A store with no Beginning Date shows Not set and doesn't change your inventory.

Set or change a Beginning Date

To set the date:

  1. Go to Stores & Files, open the Inventory Files tab and click your file.

  2. Click Dates, then click Edit.

  3. Under Beginning Date, pick a date for each store.

  4. Click Save.

If you move the date earlier, ConnectBooks pulls in the store's activity dated on or after the new date. If you move it later, activity dated before the new date is taken out of your inventory. This runs in the background, so it can take a while.

About resyncs

A resync takes a store's activity in a date range out of your inventory, then pulls it in again. Only the ConnectBooks team can set the range, so you won't see the ReSync Start and ReSync End columns. If a store's numbers for a period look wrong or missing, contact support and ask for a resync.

Things to know

  • While a resync is running, you can't move the Beginning Date later or clear it.

  • If the file has an Accounting Closing Date, you can't change the Beginning Date when the old or new date is on or before the closing date.

  • To edit dates you need the Inventory Files permission set to Edit and View.

Frequently asked questions

What Beginning Date should I pick?

A day you know your exact stock counts. Then enter those counts as an opening adjustment. See How to setup your inventory file in ConnectBooks.

What happens if I clear the Beginning Date?

The store's activity is taken out of your inventory, and the store stops syncing to it.

I get "you must select warehouses for that store before saving".

You track warehouses and set a Beginning Date, but the store has no warehouses yet. Set them under Inventory & Warehouse, then click Save.
