Connect ChatGPT to ConnectBooks so you can ask questions about your sales and profit in plain language. ChatGPT can only read your data. It can't change anything.
Before you start
You need a paid ChatGPT plan: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu.
Use ChatGPT in your browser at chatgpt.com. This won't work in the mobile app.
AI apps must be turned on for your ConnectBooks account. The account owner can turn them on in AI apps, then Settings.
If you aren't the account owner, ask the owner to give you the AI Connections and Profit Report permissions in Users.
Step 1: Copy the server URL
In ConnectBooks, open Integrations.
Under AI apps, click Connect on the ChatGPT card.
Click Copy.
Step 2: Add ConnectBooks in ChatGPT
Open Plugins in ChatGPT.
Click Add, then Add custom MCP server.
Type ConnectBooks as the name.
Paste the URL into Server URL.
Choose OAuth for authentication.
Click I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
A ConnectBooks page opens. Sign in, then click Allow.
That's it. ChatGPT now shows on the AI apps page.
Step 3: Ask a question
Open a new chat in ChatGPT.
Ask about your sales or profit. ChatGPT uses ConnectBooks on its own. For example:
Show my profit for the last 30 days.
Which SKUs lost money this month?
Look up order 112-1234567-1234567.
What ChatGPT can see
Profit report data: sales, refunds, fees, ad spend, cost of goods and profit, by SKU, ASIN, store and more.
Single orders, with the fees, cost and profit for each one.
ChatGPT only sees the stores you can see in ConnectBooks. It can't see settlements, inventory or listings.
FAQ
I don't see Add custom MCP server.
Make sure you're using chatgpt.com in a browser and have a paid plan. On a work plan, your admin may need to allow custom MCP servers.
Can ChatGPT change my data?
No. It can only read it.
Which account does ChatGPT connect to?
The account you have open in ConnectBooks when you click Allow.
How do I disconnect ChatGPT?
Open AI apps, click the ChatGPT connection and click Disconnect. You can also remove ConnectBooks from Plugins in ChatGPT.
The Connect button is grayed out.
AI apps are turned off. Ask your account owner to turn them on.
I see "This connection did not work."
The link expired. Add ConnectBooks again in Plugins.
