Connect ConnectBooks to any AI app with MCP

Connect Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, Le Chat, Cursor, VS Code or any other AI app to ConnectBooks with the ConnectBooks MCP server.

Connect an AI app like Gemini, Grok or Cursor to ConnectBooks, then ask it about your sales, fees, settlements and profit.

How it works

ConnectBooks has an MCP server. This is a link that AI apps use to read your ConnectBooks data. You add the link in your AI app, sign in to ConnectBooks and click Allow. The app can only read your data. It can't change or delete it.

The ConnectBooks link is:

https://mcp.connectbooks.com/mcp

Using Claude or ChatGPT? Connect them from the AI apps page in ConnectBooks instead.

Connect Gemini

You need a personal Google account in the US, age 18 or older, with Keep Activity on. Work and school accounts can't add custom apps.

To connect Gemini:

  1. Go to gemini.google.com on your computer. The phone app can't add custom apps.

  2. Click Settings, then Connected Apps. If you don't see it, click Personal Intelligence first.

  3. Under Custom apps, click Add a custom app.

  4. Paste the ConnectBooks link and click Next.

  5. Sign in to ConnectBooks and click Allow.

  6. To use it, type @ in a chat and choose ConnectBooks.

Connect Grok

You need a Grok plan with connectors. On Business and Enterprise plans, an admin must add the connector first.

To connect Grok:

  1. Click New Connector, then choose Custom.

  2. Name it ConnectBooks and paste the ConnectBooks link.

  3. Click Add Connector.

  4. Sign in to ConnectBooks and click Allow.

  5. To use it, just ask Grok about your sales.

Connect Perplexity

You need a paid Perplexity plan. On Enterprise plans, an admin must let members add custom connectors.

To connect Perplexity:

  1. Open Account settings, then Connectors.

  2. Click Custom connector, then choose Remote.

  3. Name it ConnectBooks and paste the ConnectBooks link.

  4. Set Authentication to OAuth and Transport to Streamable HTTP.

  5. Check the box to agree, then click Add.

  6. Click the ConnectBooks card, sign in to ConnectBooks and click Allow.

  7. To use it, turn on ConnectBooks in each new thread.

Connect Mistral Le Chat

On team plans, only an admin can add connectors.

To connect Le Chat:

  1. Open Intelligence, then Connectors.

  2. Click Add Connector, then choose Custom MCP Connector.

  3. Name it ConnectBooks, with no spaces, and paste the ConnectBooks link.

  4. Click Connect.

  5. Sign in to ConnectBooks and click Allow.

  6. To use it, open the tools menu in a new chat and turn on ConnectBooks.

Connect Cursor

To connect Cursor:

  1. Open Cursor Settings, then Tools & MCP.

  2. Click Add custom MCP. Cursor opens a file called mcp.json.

  3. Paste this text into the file and save it:

{"mcpServers": {"connectbooks": {"url": "https://mcp.connectbooks.com/mcp"}}}

When Cursor asks you to sign in, sign in to ConnectBooks in your browser and click Allow. To use it, ask in the agent chat.

Connect VS Code

You need a GitHub Copilot plan.

To connect VS Code:

  1. Press Ctrl Shift P on Windows, or Cmd Shift P on Mac.

  2. Type MCP: Add Server and press Enter.

  3. Choose HTTP.

  4. Paste the ConnectBooks link and name it connectbooks.

  5. Click Trust, sign in to ConnectBooks and click Allow.

  6. To use it, open Copilot Chat in Agent mode and ask about your numbers.

Connect any other app

Your app must support remote MCP servers with OAuth sign in. OAuth means you sign in to ConnectBooks in a browser window instead of typing a key.

To connect another app:

  1. Find the MCP settings in your app. Look for MCP, Connectors, Tools or Integrations.

  2. Add a new server. If the app asks for a type, choose HTTP or Streamable HTTP.

  3. Name it ConnectBooks and paste the ConnectBooks link.

  4. If the app asks how to sign in, choose OAuth.

  5. Save, sign in to ConnectBooks and click Allow.

If your app uses a JSON file, use the same text as in the Cursor steps.

Disconnect an app

Only the account owner can disconnect an app in ConnectBooks. Anyone else can remove ConnectBooks in their AI app, or ask the owner.

To disconnect an app:

  1. In ConnectBooks, go to AI apps.

  2. Click the app, then click Disconnect. Click Disconnect again to confirm.

  3. Also remove ConnectBooks from your AI app's settings.

After you disconnect, the app can't read your data. You can connect it again later.

Things to know

  • The app reads all stores and reports in your ConnectBooks account.

  • Apps that only take an API key can't connect.

  • Before you click Allow, you will see "Check this address before you continue." This is normal for apps other than Claude and ChatGPT. Continue only if you started the connection yourself.

  • Your ConnectBooks plan must include Crunch, the ConnectBooks AI assistant.

  • The account owner can turn AI apps on or off. Go to AI apps, click Settings, turn "Allow AI apps to connect to this account" on or off, then click Save. When it's off, no one in your account can connect an app, and connected apps stop reading data. They work again when you turn it back on.
