How to map marketplace SKUs to QuickBooks items

A step-by-step walkthrough on mapping products from a marketplace to QuickBooks using ConnectBooks

When ConnectBooks imports sales data for each SKU, it automatically adjusts the inventory for the corresponding item in QuickBooks. However, the marketplace SKU may not necessarily match how you have the item set up in QB. Therefore, ConnectBooks provides a mapping page where you can link your marketplace SKU to the correct item in QB.

  1. Navigate to the Products page on the menu, select the store you want to configure the mapping and go to the inventory and configuration tab.

    In the first column, you'll see the SKU as listed in your store.

    In the second column, you'll see the product type.

    In the third column, you'll input the item's name from Quickbooks.

    This setup process informs ConnectBooks which items link to their corresponding items in QuickBooks so we can export sales data correctly.

2. Select a product type.


There are three types of products.

  • Standard Item

    When one marketplace SKU connects with one QuickBooks item.

  • Group Item

    This is when you sell two different inventory items from Quickbooks as a bundle on your store.

    For Example, An Amazon seller sells a camera, a camera case, and an SD Card as one combo (packaged) item on Amazon. When you select the Group Item option, ConnectBooks allows you to map this SKU to a few different items in QBs.


The figure in the "Percent of cost" column lets us know how to divide the sales between the two products when exporting data to QuickBooks. For example 90% of the sale for the phone and 10% for the case.

Keep in mind: ConnectBooks only syncs with inventory parts, not with QuickBooks bundle items.

  • Multi-pack Item

    This is when the one marketplace SKU is a larger quantity of one QuickBooks item.


    For example, if you buy batteries individually, but sell them in packs of two, six, or eight on the marketplace, each pack gets its own SKU. However, all these variations link to the same item in QuickBooks, just with different quantities.

When selecting a multi-pack you'll receive an option of selecting a quantity.

Select the number of items in that multi-pack.

Important note: if you buy and sell the item in the same quantity, (For example, if you buy an item from the supplier and enter it in Quickbooks as a 3 pack, and sell it on Amazon as a 3 pack.) ignore this field.

4. select the item name you wish to map to.

There are three options for item mapping

  • Select QuickBooks (Recommended). Click on the dropdown to find the item name in QuickBooks and select, once selected, click save.

  • If the item name doesn't exist yet, you can select “new” from the dropdown menu. Input the item name. ConnectBooks will then create a new item in QuickBooks for this product. This is not recommended as it can lead to duplicates in your inventory.

SKU or ASIN:

In the dropdown menu, select the item's ASIN or SKU. ConnectBooks will either locate the existing SKU or ASIN item name in QuickBooks or generate a new item in QuickBooks using the ASIN or SKU. Please note that this option is not recommended, as it may result in duplicate entries in your inventory.
