How the Auto Map Items Setting Works in ConnectStock

Turn on Auto Map Items so ConnectStock maps your listings to items on its own when the SKU or ASIN is the same as an item name.

Auto Map Items maps your listings to ConnectStock items for you.

How it works

A listing is a product you sell on a marketplace, and mapping it tells ConnectBooks which item's stock to use when that listing sells. When Auto Map Items is on, ConnectBooks looks for listings that aren't mapped yet. If a listing's SKU (or ASIN, if you pick that) is the same text as an item's Item Name, ConnectBooks maps the listing to that item. This runs in the background for each store linked to the inventory file, so new matches can take a while to show up.

Turn on Auto Map Items

To turn it on:

  1. Go to Stores & Files, open the Inventory Files tab and click your file.

  2. Click General, then click Edit.

  3. Turn on Auto Map Items.

  4. Pick what to match on:

    • Sku: the listing's SKU must match the Item Name.

    • Asin: the listing's ASIN must match the Item Name.

  5. Click Save.

Turn off Auto Map Items

To stop it:

  1. Open your file, click General, then click Edit.

  2. Turn off Auto Map Items and click Save.

Listings that were already mapped stay mapped.

Things to know

  • The listing's SKU or ASIN must be the same text as the item's Item Name. A close match, such as an extra word or character, isn't mapped.

  • Only listings that are not mapped yet are checked. Listings you already mapped, including Multi-Pack Item and Group Item listings, are never changed.

  • Each auto mapped listing becomes a Standard listing: 1 unit of 1 item.

  • The item must be active and be an Inventory, Non Inventory or Assembly item. Service items are skipped.

  • Only stores linked to this inventory file are checked.

  • If Use Listing Item Image is on and the item has no image yet, the item gets the listing's image.

  • After a listing is mapped, ConnectBooks updates your inventory with that listing's store sales. If FBA Shipments is on, it also checks your FBA shipments again.

  • To change the setting you need the Inventory Files permission set to Edit and View.

Frequently asked questions

Why wasn't my listing mapped?

The listing's SKU (or ASIN) has to be the same text as the item's Item Name, and the item has to be active and not a Service item. The listing also can't be mapped already. For listings that don't match, map them yourself. See How to map listings to ConnectBooks items.

I turned it on. Why don't I see new mappings yet?

Auto mapping runs in the background, not the moment you click Save. Check back later.

Should I pick Sku or Asin?

Pick the one your Item Names follow. If your items are named after your SKUs, pick Sku. If they're named after your ASINs, pick Asin.

Can it map a listing to more than 1 item?

No. It only makes Standard mappings (1 unit of 1 item). For a Multi-Pack Item or a Group Item, map the listing yourself or use How to Map ConnectBooks Items via Excel.
