Item Categories:
In addition, ConnectBooks gives its users the ability to further categorize their products. In Product Settings, a Category column is available on the right side with a field to enter a seller’s preferred category for each product.
Use Case:
A seller sells different types of merchandise such as electronics and clothing. The seller can add the relevant category next to each item and have their reports sorted accordingly.
The effect this has in ConnectBooks: In the reports section, a user can select to sort and view their reports using various criteria such as Category, and can thus view their sales sorted and subtotaled by their customized categories.
The effect this has in QuickBooks: ConnectBooks creates a Class for each custom category a user puts into the category field. As ConnectBooks already uses Classes for each item name as well, the custom category name becomes the Parent Class, and the actual item name is a Subclass. This allows users to also view their reports in QuickBooks (those run by “Class”) categorized according to their preference as well as by item.
