If you're using Amazon's AWD and also track inventory in ConnectBooks, it's important to understand how AWD fits into your warehouse setup and FBA shipment process.
🚚 Default Setup in ConnectBooks
By default, ConnectBooks assumes you have one local warehouse where your inventory is stored before it's shipped to FBA. Every FBA shipment pulls inventory from that default local warehouse and transfers it to an In-Transit state. Once Amazon receives the shipment, inventory is deducted accordingly.
🏗 Option 1 (Recommended): Treat AWD as Part of Your Local Warehouse
This is the simplest and most automated approach. Instead of setting up AWD as a separate warehouse, just consider AWD inventory as part of your main local warehouse. Here’s how it works:
When Amazon ships from AWD to FBA, ConnectBooks creates a transfer from your local warehouse to In-Transit.
Since AWD is included in the local warehouse balance, you don’t need to manually intervene — it all flows smoothly.
Why we recommend this setup:
No need to manage multiple source warehouses.
Fewer manual edits on FBA shipment records.
No Manual transfer every time you ship inventory to AWD
Note: Even if you don’t set up a separate AWD warehouse in ConnectBooks, you’ll still be able to see your AWD inventory once the new AWD Inventory Report is released — since the data comes directly from Amazon.
🧭 Option 2: Set Up AWD as a Separate Warehouse
You can also create a separate warehouse in ConnectBooks for AWD, but this requires more manual work:
Manual Steps Required:
Manual Transfer to AWD
Every time you send inventory from your local warehouse to AWD, you’ll need to manually create a warehouse transfer from Local → AWD.
Update Source Warehouse on FBA Shipments
By default, FBA shipments will pull inventory from your default local warehouse.
So when Amazon ships from AWD, you'll need to edit the source warehouse on the FBA Shipments page and change it to AWD.
🔄 Alternate Setup: Set AWD as the Default Source Warehouse
If most of your FBA shipments come from AWD, you can change the default source warehouse for FBA shipments to be AWD.
In that case:
You’ll only need to manually update the source warehouse on shipments that come from your actual local warehouse.
