How to Compare ConnectBooks by Order Date to Amazon

To accurately compare order data between ConnectBooks and Amazon, use Amazon’s Business Reports instead of the SKU Economics report, which often includes inaccurate data such as canceled orders and doesn’t align with other Amazon reports. Business Reports offer clean, filterable data that will match ConnectBooks exactly when using the same Order Date range.

Key Differences to Note

  • ConnectBooks separates Orders and Replacements.

  • Amazon counts both as Orders in Business Reports.

So when comparing totals:
Orders + Replacements (ConnectBooks) = Orders (Amazon)

Avoid using the SKU Economics report—it often includes canceled orders and misses adjustments, causing discrepancies.

What Should Match?

When filtered correctly, Order Gross and Units sold + replacements in ConnectBooks (before refunds) will match the Revenue in Amazon’s Business Reports exactly.

If it still doesn't Match?

If its only off by a few units, its usually due to the way ConnectBooks reconciles transactions with Amazon.

Here’s how it works:

  • We pull data from two different Amazon sources: the Order Report (raw order details) and the Financial Events Report (posted/paid orders).

  • We match each order to ensure both the quantity and the payment amounts align.

  • If there’s a mismatch — for example, Amazon shows 10 units ordered, but only 5 units posted (paid) — ConnectBooks will only record the 5 units for this order.

  • If Amazon later updates, and posts the payment for the remaining 5 units, ConnectBooks updates the order and creates an additional transaction for those 5 units under the same Order ID.

  • In many cases, those remaining units are canceled in Amazon, so the total stays at 5 — which matches Amazon’s final posted data exactly.

This process ensures that your ConnectBooks reports always match Amazon’s payment records to the penny, and that if an order gets partially canceled, we only keep the final and correct order amount.
